Midweek and winter weddings: why they cost less

A Thursday in June or a Saturday in February can take £1,500 or more off your wedding breakfast with me. Here's why, what you get, and the catch.

The short answer

Summer Saturdays are the most asked-for dates, so that's where my other menus sit. For midweek and winter dates I offer The Acorn: a classic three-course menu from £75 a guest, with my chefs, waiting team, crockery, cutlery, glassware and linen all included, and no VAT to add.

Which dates count

The Acorn also needs 100 day guests or more and a venue with a working kitchen.

What you'd save

Against The Gatherer, my lowest-priced menu for a summer Saturday:

Day guestsThe AcornThe GathererYou save
100 guests£80£95£1,500
150 guests£75£90£2,250

Price per guest at 100 and 150 guests. Between those sizes prices slide, so check your own numbers in the calculator.

What's on The Acorn

Three choices for each course, plus a vegan dessert. You pick two of each, and your guests choose between them with their RSVP. Vegan guests always get the vegan dish for each course.
