Lunches made interesting — the week one film: five kraft lunch boxes, Monday to Friday

The Monday box, laid out: dressing and crunch in their pots, chicken thigh, pickled red onion, tomato, cucumber, little gem, puy lentil and chickpea — and the box they go into.

The build

Six slots. One box.

Every box is built the same way, in the same order, to around 300g — then packed in a kraft board box with two lidded pots, so the dressing and the crunch stay separate until you sit down.

The rhythm

Cooked twice a week, delivered twice a week

  1. Order by Thursday, midday

Subscribe any day. Anything in by Thursday midday starts the following Monday. Nothing is charged until the cut-off.

  2. Cooked Sunday, delivered Sunday

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday’s boxes are cooked from scratch on Sunday and delivered the same day, chilled.

  3. Cooked Wednesday evening, delivered Wednesday

Thursday and Friday’s boxes are cooked Wednesday evening and delivered that evening. Nothing is ever more than three days old.

  4. Keep it in the fridge. Eat it cold.

Every box is designed to be eaten cold — no reheating. Dressing and crunch come in their own lidded pots, so nothing goes soft before you sit down.

Once it’s yours

Boxes are handed to you, not left out. From that moment keeping them cold is your side of the deal — four rules, all in the terms.

Fridge straight away
Into a fridge at 0–5°C as soon as it is handed over. Chilled food should never be out for more than four hours in total.
Eat on the day marked
Each box is labelled with its day. That day is its use-by, however good it looks.
Eat cold, do not reheat
Built to be eaten cold. Not made for reheating or freezing.
Check the label if you share
Every box carries its allergens. Whoever eats it needs to have read them.

Questions

The practical bits

Can I order the lunch boxes now?

Not at the moment. The lunch boxes are paused for now. Leave your name with the form on the Meal Prep page and I’ll let you know first when they restart.

Do I need to reheat anything?

No. Every box is designed to be eaten cold — do not reheat. Keep it in the fridge until lunch, then add the dressing and the crunch from their pots.

How fresh is it?

Cooked twice weekly: Sunday for Monday to Wednesday, Wednesday evening for Thursday and Friday. Never more than three days old when you eat it.

What about allergens?

Every box is made without gluten-containing, milk, egg, soy or sesame ingredients, and the full allergen list is printed on every box. If you have an allergy, tell me before you subscribe so I can plan around it.

When is the cut-off?

Thursday, midday. Anything ordered by then starts the following Monday. Your card is charged £40 at each cut-off for the week ahead.

How do I cancel or take a week off?

From your subscription page — the link is in every receipt. Cancel before Thursday midday and the following week is neither made nor charged. Going away? Cancel and re-subscribe when you are back, or message me.

Where do you deliver?

SS postcodes — Southend-on-Sea and the towns around it: Rayleigh, Hockley, Leigh-on-Sea, Benfleet, Canvey, Basildon. The boxes are made in Rayleigh, Essex. Send me your postcode using the form and I will confirm before you subscribe.

Do I need to be in?

Yes. The boxes are handed to you, not left on the doorstep, because that is the only way I can keep them cold. When I set off on a delivery day you get a message with a one-hour window. From the handover they are yours to keep cold: fridge straight away, eat cold on the day marked.
